The following committee has existing and upcoming vacancies:

Audit Committee

The Audit Committee is provided for by Ordinance No. 5400 adopted June 29, 2004, and consists of five (5) members who shall be appointed by City Council to serve without compensation. Each appointed member of the Audit Committee shall be a qualified elector of the City of Glendale at the time of appointment and throughout incumbency. All members shall be public members who shall be persons with relevant experience serving as a corporate officer, auditor, attorney or professional consultant to business, government or organizations. The term of office is three (3) years.

The following commission has an upcoming vacancy:

Historic Preservation Commission

The Historic Preservation Commission recommends to the City Council, after holding hearings concerning administrative alterations to historic resources, inclusion of property under historic preservation protection and other issues. All members shall demonstrate interest, competence and knowledge in historic preservation. Composition of the Commission shall include at least one member doing business in one or more of the disciplines of architecture, history, architectural history, planning, archaeology, or other historic preservation related fields.

Applicants must be qualified electors of the City of Glendale at the time of appointment and during incumbency.

Board Members are volunteers and do not receive monetary compensation.

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Advisory Committee

The qualifications to serve on the CDBG Advisory Committee are as follows: Committee members must be qualified electors of the City of Glendale at the time of appointment and during incumbency; have an interest or knowledge of the community, including the low and moderate-income segment; may not be serving in a decision making capacity with any organization applying for CDBG funds for at least 30 days prior to appointment and while serving on the committee; and may not be serving on any other city board or commission throughout incumbency. The CDBG Advisory Committee reviews community needs, evaluates funding proposals, makes funding recommendations and evaluates performance of programs.

The following commission has an existing vacancy:

Arts & Culture Commission

Applicants must, with the exception of students of a school, be qualified electors of the City of Glendale at the time of appointment and during incumbency. At least one member of the Commission shall be an elected official, an employee, student or volunteer of the Glendale Unified School District. At least one member shall be an elected official, employee, student or volunteer of a community college, state university, the University of California education system, or a private institution which provides instruction at the college level or higher, or trade or vocational school. The other members of the Commission shall be individuals with substantial professional expertise as an artist, designer, or arts administrator in the fields of the performing, visual, folk or literary arts, or architecture, or business community leaders with an acknowledged record of stewardship of the arts. Commission Members are volunteers and do not receive monetary compensation.

Planning Commission

This commission was provided for by Sections 3-79 to 3-94 of the Glendale Municipal Code, 1964. It consists of five (5) members, and the term of office is for three (3) years. Each member shall be a qualified elector of the City of Glendale at the time of his/her appointment or incumbency. The Planning Division provides administrative services for the Commission. The Director of Planning can provide further information concerning Planning Commission matters.

The following commission has existing vacancies:

Building & Fire Board Of Appeals

Each member shall be a qualified elector of the City of Glendale at the time of appointment and during incumbency. Also, each member shall be either active at the time of appointment or previously active in the building construction business. A minimum of 2 members, one of which shall be qualified to practice architecture or civil engineering in the State, shall also be qualified on matters pertaining to the Glendale building & safety code pertaining to building regulations; and a minimum of 1 member shall be qualified on matters pertaining to the building and safety code pertaining to fire regulations or the area of fire protection.
