Central Glendale Facade Improvement Program |

The Glendale Redevelopment Agency Facade Improvement program is a tool to enhance the vibrancy of the retail and commercial environment in the Central Glendale Redevelopment Area, specifically on Brand Boulevard, the signature street in downtown Glendale. The program also addresses the properties that are on adjacent streets connecting the downtown to other districts.
The program provides assistance in the form of a matching grant as an incentive for property owners and tenants to renovate their building façade(s). Attractive and maintained storefronts and well designed signs and awnings create a healthy pedestrian ambience that promotes retailers and attracts shoppers.
Eligible improvements may consist of but are not limited to:
- Removal and replacement of outdated or non-forming signs.
- Modification of doors and windows.
- Repair, replacement, removal or installation of awnings, marquee or other sun control devices.
- Exterior painting and decorative treatment.
- Architectural lighting on the front or alley facades and window display lighting.
- Minor landscaping directly related to the exterior of the building.
- Installation of enclosures for open trash containers located in the alley.
- Other façade improvements not listed which will contribute to the retail/commercial environment.
