Chapter 1.16 PRISONERS

1.16.010 Chief of police to prescribe and enforce disciplinary and security regulations.

The chief of police shall procure and use such means as the chief of police shall deem necessary for the security of all prisoners under his or her charge, and may prescribe and administer such rules and regulations as he or she shall deem necessary to keep good order among the prisoners and compel them to do their work. (Prior code § 19-18)

1.16.030 Performance of labor.

All persons who are confined in the city jail under a judgment rendered in a criminal action in the municipal court of the city shall be required to perform labor, under the direction of the chief of police of the city, on the public works, ways or buildings of the city to the extent of their physical abilities. (Prior code § 19-20)

1.16.040 Escape.

Any prisoner performing labor as directed by Section 1.16.030 who shall escape while so laboring or while going to or returning from such labor, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. (Prior code § 19-21)
