If you are replacing windows in your home or business, you need a permit from the City of Glendale Building and Safety Department. This applies even when you are putting new windows into the existing frame or when the windows can't be seen from the street. The only time you don't need a permit is when you are just replacing the glass in an existing window.

All agencies in California are to follow the State's "Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance." On January 26, 2010 the Glendale City Council authorized staff to prepare a less complicated ordinance for Glendale, that accomplishes the same goals. Until then, the State's ordinance is to be used.
